Bio: Born in Grand Blanc, Michigan, Dominic Gasso is a dynamic midfielder known for his technical composure, competitive work rate, and ability to impact games from central areas. A product of Detroit City FC Academy, Gasso became the first player in club history to sign a professional contract after progressing from the academy system. Since turning pro, he has contributed in USL Championship competition and gained additional experience on loan in MLS Next Pro. His mix of academy training, technical quality, and experience in high-stakes matches brings creativity and versatility to the squad.

Timeline: Gasso’s journey began in youth soccer with Vardar Academy and the Flint City Bucks Academy, before joining the Detroit City FC U19 Academy setup and competing in the USL Academy Cup in 2022. In July 2022, he signed a USL Academy contract with Detroit City FC and made his USL Championship debut on August 27, 2022, against the Charleston Battery, becoming an early example of the club’s development pathway. Ahead of the 2023 season, Gasso was again rostered as a USL Academy signing before signing his first professional contract on June 30, 2023 — a four-and-a-half-year deal that was the longest in Detroit City FC history to that point and made him the first academy graduate to turn pro with the club. During the 2023 USL Championship Playoffs, he scored the match-winning goal in Detroit City FC’s first playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, marking a defining competitive contribution. In August 2024, Gasso joined Huntsville City FC in MLS Next Pro on loan for the remainder of the season, gaining additional professional minutes and experience in a new environment.
