At Athletic Club Boise, the Community Impact STAR — Service, Teamwork, Accountability, and Responsibility — is symbolized by a single purple chair inside our stadium.
The chair reflects both the eye of the falcon in our crest and the Idaho star garnet. More importantly, it represents the people and organizations who strengthen our community in lasting ways, those who show up for others, create opportunity, and help shape a stronger future for Idaho.
During our September 16 home match against Charlotte Independence, Athletic Club Boise recognized Reagan Rossi, Vice President of Athletics at The College of Idaho, as our latest Community Impact STAR honoree.
BUILDING PEOPLE, NOT JUST PROGRAMS
Rossi’s relationship with The College of Idaho began in 1995, when she joined the inaugural coaching staff for the revived women’s basketball program. She returned as head coach in 2001 before moving into athletics administration and eventually becoming Vice President of Athletics.
Through every role, her focus has remained the same: helping student-athletes become the best versions of themselves.
“This has been such a special place for me and for my family,” Rossi says. “Anytime you get the opportunity to give back and to serve, I truly believe we’re all called to serve.”
FOUR PILLARS FOR SUCCESS
Under Rossi’s leadership, College of Idaho Athletics is built around four priorities: academic excellence, leadership development, community engagement, and a commitment to service.
Winning matters, but it is not the department’s only measure of success.
“Nowhere in there do we say winning,” Rossi says. “It’s doing it the right way.”
That approach challenges student-athletes to succeed in competition while preparing them to become leaders, teammates, and engaged members of their communities.
LESSONS BEYOND THE SCOREBOARD
Rossi believes sports prepare young people for far more than the next game.
Student-athletes learn how to work hard, take initiative, and contribute as part of a team. They also learn how to handle setbacks — and how to recover when things do not go as planned.
Those experiences build the resilience, accountability, and confidence they will carry into their careers, families, and communities long after their playing days are over.
CREATING WHAT THE NEXT GENERATION CAN SEE
For Rossi, the growing visibility of women’s sports creates a responsibility to keep moving opportunity forward.
At Athletic Club Boise matches, young girls can see professional athletes competing in front of a packed stadium and imagine themselves doing the same someday, with even more emphasis coming in 2028 with the launch of the AC Boise women’s team.
By supporting one another, Athletic Club Boise and The College of Idaho can help bring more athletes and fans together, strengthen the local sports community and show the next generation what is possible.
THE IMPACT OF SUPPORT
At a small college, Rossi says every contribution can make a meaningful difference.
Community support helps create stronger programs, better experiences and new opportunities for student-athletes. Whether that support comes through attendance, partnership, mentorship or giving, its impact can be transformational.
