Bio: Born in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, Joseph Hanson is a forward known for his athleticism, attacking versatility, and ability to play across multiple roles in the front line. Hanson developed through the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy system, progressing through one of Major League Soccer’s leading youth development pathways before moving into the professional ranks. He has since gained experience in North American and European competitions, including MLS NEXT Pro, the Canadian Premier League, and the League of Ireland First Division. Notably, Hanson became the first player from Yukon to sign and play professionally, representing a milestone for soccer development in Canada’s northern territories.
Timeline: Hanson developed in Canada’s youth soccer system before joining the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy in 2019, progressing through the club’s youth structure and eventually earning opportunities with the organization’s reserve side. In 2022, he signed his first professional contract with Whitecaps FC 2, the club’s MLS NEXT Pro team.
