Bio: Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Philip Mayaka is a dynamic midfielder with experience across MLS Next Pro and the USL Championship system. He was selected third overall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft and began his professional career within the Colorado Rapids organization, including a loan to the USL Championship’s Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Mayaka has since established himself as a regular midfield presence in MLS Next Pro with Rapids 2, Crown Legacy FC, and, most recently, Huntsville City FC. Known for his technical ability, vision, and work ethic, he brings creativity and midfield balance to the squad.

Timeline: Mayaka began his professional journey when he was selected third overall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids after a standout collegiate career at Clemson University. In the 2021 season, he spent time on loan with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the USL Championship, gaining valuable professional experience in the U.S. second division. In 2022, Mayaka featured for Colorado Rapids 2 in MLS Next Pro, continuing his development within the Rapids organization. He then signed with Crown Legacy FC, the MLS Next Pro affiliate of Charlotte FC, ahead of the 2023 season and remained with the club through 2024, becoming a regular starter in the midfield. In February 2025, Mayaka joined Huntsville City FC ahead of the 2025 MLS Next Pro season, bringing his MLS Next Pro experience and midfield versatility to a new club environment.
